Proxy Authentication
Web Safety can be configured to require connecting users to authenticate themselves. There are several modes of proxy authentication supported.
Mode | Authentication Type | Description |
---|---|---|
None | Disabled | Proxy authentication is disabled. This is a default mode after installation. In this mode no proxy authentication is required and connecting proxy users can only by identified by their IP addresses. |
IP Address Labelling | Pseudo Auth | Pseudo authentication (assigning of labels) to IP addresses in your network. |
Local Users Database | Explicit Auth | Authentication using the manually managed list of user names and passwords stored in a file on the proxy server using Basic Authentication. |
Captive Portal | Pseudo Auth | Authentication of users based on IP addresses they connect from. |
Radius Auth | Explicit Proxy Auth | Authentication using existing Radius server deployed in your network. |
Microsoft Active Directory | Explicit Proxy Auth | Built-in Microsoft Windows single-sign-on proxy authentication using the Negotiate authentication scheme (both Kerberos and NTLM) or Basic LDAP authentication with users from your Active Directory environment. Recommended mode. |
All aspects of proxy authentication are configured in Squid / Auth node in the Admin UI.
