URL Request Filtering Heuristics

URL heuristics module is used to block explicit URLs which are usually associated with adult content web sites. It also inspects and blocks search terms on Google, Bing, Yahoo and YouTube.

The following screen shot shows URL inspection rule, configured for a default policy.

Database of words to be blocked in URLs is stored in /opt/websafety/var/db/adult/heuristics.conf. Unfortunately this needs to be edited manually if additional words need to be blocked. Please do not forget to click Save and Restart in Admin UI after that.
